Joanes Preis: The winners have been chosen!
We would like to thank all participants who submitted their creative concepts on the topic of social urban design for the “Ackerplatz” in Berlin-Wedding! We are very pleased that a total of 53 impressive ideas have been developed to address the question of how an inner-city location can promote social community building.
After a very successful meeting of the jury members on Monday, December 2, the winners of our competition have been selected. The five lucky winners will be contacted by phone from December 9.
Entitled to vote the day of the decision were Mr. Andreas Becher (President BDA, BRH), Ms. Eva-Maria Boemans (TdB Landscape Architecture), Prof. Dr. Marcus Menzl (TU Lübeck), Mr. Reiner Nagel (Chairman of the Board of Bundesstiftung Baukultur), Ms. Sibel Olguner (Quartiersmanagement Brunnenviertel-Ackerstraße), Dr. Wolfgang Wagner (Head of portfolio development at degewo) and Ms. Yasha Young (Urban Nation).
An official exhibition of all submitted project ideas with an evening reception and an award ceremony will take place on January 24/2020 in a location near the “Ackerplatz”. The exact location and time will be announced soon. We are pleased to celebrate this evening together with all participants, our expert jury and the numerous supporters for the realization of the Joanes Preis! From March 2020, the winning concept endowed with the 1st prize, will be put into practice.
From September 16 to November 11/2019, interested artists*, (landscape) architects* and other persons as well as initiatives who wanted to participate as social “urban designers” were invited to submit their ideas/creations for a temporary pilot project in the Brunnenviertel.
The success of this first call strengthens us in awarding the Joanes Preis for Social Urban Design again in the coming year 2020!
