6th Real Estate Forum Berlin
At the 6th Real Estate Forum in Berlin on 17.06.19 a large part of the real estate industry met with representatives of the Senate, Science and the Berlin real estate world to evaluate current challenges and perspectives. Above all, the forum focused on topics relating to digital change and the paradigm shift in society. In the course of the event, visions for the capital city were outlined, figures and trends on the residential real estate market were shown, particularly regarding the development of market demand. Moreover, special project ideas and innovative residential trends were presented.
Senator Katrin Lompscher also gave a presentation on “Public welfare oriented housing: How can housing remain affordable in Berlin” and outlined the special features of the Housing 2030 urban development plan – an integrated urban development plan. Its goal is to design 50 percent of the urgently needed new housing by 2030 to be oriented towards the common good. According to the StEP 2030, the potential for new construction lies above all in 14 new urban districts and new housing development potentials from 200 residential units upwards, which are primarily located in the further development of existing housing estates. Senator Lompscher sees an urgent need for action in the expansion of social housing promotion and the strengthening of public welfare-oriented actors in housing construction.
The Joanes Foundation supports this view and sees it as an important signal to the city, companies and civil society.
